Presenters Bio:
Dr. Lisa Bentley graduated from the University of Western Ontario’s Faculty of Dentistry in 1991 and holds an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from the University of Toronto. She has practiced dentistry in Mississauga since her graduation and opened her own general practice in 1997. Dr. Lisa Bentley is an active member of the Halton-Peel Dental Association (HPDA), which she represented at General Council for two terms (2001 to 2006, 2009 to 2012) before her election as HPDA Vice-President in 2010. That was also the year she joined the ODA’s Economics Advisory Committee, which she later chaired from 2011 to 2015. In 2012, Dr. Bentley served as President of the HPDA.
Dr. Bentley was a member of the ODA’s Sponsorship Task Force in 2012-2013 and the ODA 150th Anniversary Implementation Committee in 2014-2015. She joined the ODA Board of Directors in 2015. In this capacity, she has chaired the Governance and Nominating Committee (GNC), Human Resources and Compensation Committee and Articles and Bylaws Sub-Committee. She currently sits on the GNC and CDA General Assembly as a representative from Ontario. Dr. Bentley has been a Political Contact Dentist since 2012.
Outside of the ODA, Dr. Bentley is Strategic Planning Committee Chair for the International College of Dentists (Canada) and is the International Trustee for Pierre Fauchard Canada, a component of the Pierre Fauchard International Academy.
Dr. Bentley has been awarded Fellowships in Pierre Fauchard Academy, International College of Dentists and the American College of Dentists. She received the ODA’s Award of Merit in 2010 and an ODA Service Award in 2019.

Dr. Ted Damas is a specialist in Endodontics. He maintains a group specialty practice in Oakville (Hepworth and Damas Endodontics) and Guelph (Endodontic Care) working closely as a team member with several other specialists providing comprehensive endodontic care.
Dr. Ted Damas received his dental degree from the University of Western Ontario in 2003. While attending, he received the Laura Stakiu Memorial Award and was named on the Dean’s list. Following graduation, Dr. Damas completed a 1-year residency program at the University of Maryland in 2004.
After practicing as a general dentist in Milton, the following year he returned to graduate school at the University of Illinois at Chicago where he completed his specialty certificate in endodontics in 2007. In addition to his clinical training as a resident, he was involved in teaching, conducting research, and giving presentations locally and internationally. Ted is a past president of the Ontario Society of Endodontists, an active member of the Canadian Academy of Endodontics, and an active member of the American Association of Endodontists.
In his spare time, Dr. Damas enjoys spending time with his family and friends, travelling, skiing, golfing and playing ice hockey. Ted is a firm believer in giving back to the community. He is a supporter of the Oakville Hospital Foundation and Sick Kids Foundation.

Dr. Mark Eckler received his dental education at the University of Western Ontario School of Dentistry in 1993. He attended McGill University Multi-Disciplinary Residency Program before completing St. Louis University's Graduate Orthodontic Program in 1997. Mark has been in private orthodontic practice in Brampton and Mississauga for over 25 years.
In addition to lecturing mulitple times for the Ontario Dental Association and Halton Peel Dental Association, he is presently a RCDSO councillor. Mark is married and Sharon and him have two amazing daughters, Jaime and Alexandra.
Dr. Nadir Elias grew up in the Greater Toronto Area where he graduated with Honors from the University of Toronto with a degree in Integrative Biology. He went on to obtain his dental degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida before going on to complete a general practice residency at Advocate Masonic Medical Centre in Chicago, Illinois.
Upon returning home, he completed a full-scope specialty training program in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Toronto. Finally, he returned to the United States to undertake the prestigious Advanced Craniomaxillofacial Trauma and Surgery Fellowship at the Head and Neck Institute in Portland, Oregon.
Dr. Elias’ surgical interests include the management of complex maxillofacial trauma, implant surgery, and orthognathic surgery.
Outside of the office, he can be found spending time with his wife and two beautiful children and enjoying several hobbies, some of which are playing hockey, word-working, and cooking.

Dr. Guido Galli has been in private practice as a periodontist for over 30 years with offices in both Mississauga and Milton. He earned his dental degree in 1989 and Periodontics specialization in 1992 from the University of Toronto. Dr. Galli offers both surgical and non-surgical periodontal treatments with a special interest in regenerative therapy, soft tissue grafting and implantology.
Dr. Galli collaborates with referring dentists to develop treatment plans that meet the patients’ needs, emphasizing that “comprehensive care is a team approach each step of the way”. He is keen to promote a deeper knowledge of periodontal and implantology treatments through his interactions with dental offices and with educational seminars. He focuses on helping them strengthen patient communication and education, expand their hygiene department and increase case acceptance through effective diagnosis/treatment planning and case presentations. He takes an interest in mentoring new dentists to help them develop effective patient communication and enhance patient education.
As an extension of his pursuit of a lifetime strategy for oral health, Dr. Galli is committed to continuing education and professional development. He is an active member of numerous dental associations and regularly attends industry conferences and workshops focusing on enhancing patient care and optimized outcomes. He served on the executive committee of the Ontario Society of Periodontists for several years, holding the position of president in 2015-2016.
Dr. Galli enjoys travelling, yoga, painting, fitness and playing sports especially tennis, as well as, spending time with his wife and children in cottage country.
Dr. James Tonogai is a prosthodontist who completed in his specialist training at the University of Toronto in 2021. He completed his DDS degree at Western University in 2015 and practiced for three years in Hamilton, Ontario before pursuing his interest in prosthodontics through further education and training. Dr. Tonogai enjoys helping patients with complex dental care needs where extensive planning is required to arrive at an optimal treatment plan. He highly values good communication and interdisciplinary care between specialists, general dentists, and patients. James enjoys the challenges of prosthodontic care; however, when not in the clinic or lab, he also enjoys tennis, windsurfing, and badminton.
