Course Description:
Understanding Standards, Guidelines and Advisories
1. What are the Standards – where are they found and how are they determined
2. How Are We Regulated – a look at the Dentistry Act and the Regulated Health Professions Act
3. Informed Consent and Record Keeping- the backbone of professional practice
Ethics, Privacy, and Professionalism in a Connected World
1. Understanding Privacy – A review of how to contain and manage the Personal Health Information (PHI) that we collect
2. A Look at Electronic Communication – how to manage electronic communication
3. Your Website and Online Footprint– What is allowed, what I find, how it is troubling
Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of how to align clinical decisions with professional expectations and avoid unintended breaches and violations. Dentists will gain clarity on how to stay compliant and ethically sound while navigating the digital transformation of their practice, with practical tips for avoiding common missteps

Presenter’s Bio:
Dr. Lionel Lenkinski graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry in 1979. He then completed a general practice residency at University Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama. He took his specialty training in endodontics at Boston University, Goldman School of Graduate Dentistry in Boston, Massachusetts, which he completed in 1982. He is currently the Executive Director to Canadian Dental Protective Association. Lionel maintains a part-time clinical practice limited to endodontics in Toronto. Lionel is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy and was recently awarded the Award of Merit by the Ontario Dental Association, and the American College of Dentists. He is a columnist and editorial board member of Ontario Dentist.
Please note that the lecture will begin promptly at 6:45 pm. Attendees who arrive 15 minutes late or more will not be eligible for Category 1 credits.
